POLITICS DIGEST – The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has lent his voice to the call for power to shift to the South in 2023.
The Governor spoke at the presentation of a book by Dakuku Perterside, former director-general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), on Thursday.
According to him, with the situation of things in the country currently, it doesn’t matter what part of the South the next president comes from.

He also urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to keep to previous agreements made to shift power to the southern part of the country in the next administration.
“The issue of power rotation is a covenant between us hence the need to shift the power to the south.
“With the way things are currently going on in the country, it’s obvious that we have to try something different in 2023.
“However, I would advise that the ruling party, APC keeps this at heart whenever they decide to nominate a candidate. Let’s give others a chance to rule too,” he said.
Recall that the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari earlier advocated for a Southern presidency in 2023.
According to him, it would be unfair for the Southern part of the country not to produce Nigeria’s next president in 2023.
