EXCLUSIVE: Tinubu Settles for Shettima as Running Mate, APC Governors Kick
By Kabir Akintayo
There are strong indications that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential spirant, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has settled for former governor of Borno state, Senator Kashim Shettima, as his running mate.
This choice which is set to be announced in the coming days is however said not to have gone down well with governors of the ruling party who are clamouring for the slot to be given to one of them, having worked tirelessly for the emergence of Tinubu in the APC Primaries conducted in June.
A competent source in the party revealed to POLITICS DIGEST that even though the choice of Shettima was a product of wide consultation, the governors are insisting on one of them.

Shettima was the leading campaigner for Tinubu ahead of the primaries especially in the North and the choice of him could be a way of rewarding his loyalty and diligence.
Tinubu had chosen a former National Welfare Officer of the party, Kabir Masari, as a temporary running mate to beat INEC’s initial June 17 deadline but the latter is allowed by the new Electoral Act to voluntarily withdraw from the race and make way for a new person chosen by the candidate.
