47 Candidates Mull Joint Suit to Challenge Imo Judgement Review at Supreme Court
POLITICS DIGEST – Concerned by unending legal battle that has characterized the Imo state governorship election, 47 governorship candidates in the last election in the state have declared their interest to join a suit for a review of the governorship election at the Supreme Court.
The governorship candidates under the aegis of 2019 Forum of Governorship candidates in the state said they had approached their chairman, Dr. Chukwuemeka Elisa to immediately join the review case at the Supreme Court on their behalf.

At a press conference in Owerri, the group through their spokesmen, Dr. Isaac Iwuanyanwu and Chief Collins Eke, Secretary and Publicity Secretary respectively said that having got Certified True Copy (CTC) of the 2019 governorship results and the 388 polling booth’s results which the Supreme Court relied on to declare Senator Hope Uzodinma winner, stressed that their members resolved to ask their Chairman, Dr. Chukwuemeka Elias to file a joinder in the ongoing review case currently pending at the apex court.
The group which maintained that they were committed to bringing peace to Imo State, also added that they had briefed their team of lawyers to file their processes without delay before the next adjourned date.
They assured that when joined, that they would state their uncompromising position on the Imo governorship election in the collective interest of Imo people.
Seven months into the administration of former Governor Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Supreme Court nullified his election and returned Senator Hope Uzodinma of the APC as the duly elected governor of Imo State.
Following his now contentious removal, Ihedioha approached the apex court for the review of the judgment.
Hearing in the matter has been fixed for 2nd March, 2020.
