It was a sunny Sunday, but I had to ride through the scorching sun for a date with Honourable member House of Representative, Honorable Dr. Ibrahim Hamza, representing Soba Federal Constituency. We had a brief tete-a-tete on wide range of issues among which are; youth political participation and mentoring, economic opportunities and education in Soba constituency. But the important of it all is his quest to prioritize youth inclusion in governance within his constituency and beyond. And by that, he keeps saying it will not achieve without knowledge and proper mentoring. He has understanding that education is the most powerful tool if you really want to change the world. His words and action are always towards investment in education. The gentle man keeps saying “education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another” and “purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.” He didn’t only talk on this; it is evident on how he has been assisting students with funds as scholarships and payment of tuition fees. He has done that and told me he is ready to expand on that. That gesture alone kept me mesmerize as I listen to him speak. He has a vision.
More so, on his political expedition in enhancing youth participation at all levels of political landscape withing Soba, the state and country at large, he kept saying consistently, that not just peripheral participation, but he want an our apparent and functional engagement within the political space.
This gentle man action is making youths leaders of today not tomorrow, bringing into practical all needed development. Legislators duties include oversight, authorizing expenditures, legislation, deliberation, making government, and representation. In the case of this Honourable man, he has gone beyond these duties to ensuring his constituents enjoys dividend of democracy.
With men like Dr. Ibrahim Hamza in Soba and Kaduna state at large, we will be dynamic towards people development. To him youths are the major human resources and assets of development within the constituency. As he always says, holding political office is not all about giving money but mentoring youths to become strong men that can raise other men. Indeed, the people of Soba must thank His Excellency for identifying this iron man for us.
