A Civil Society Organisation, Centre For Civil Rights and Social Justice (CCRSJ), has alleged that Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and top officials of the Adamawa Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are mounting pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, to compromise today’s supplementary governorship election in the State.

CCRSJ, in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Peter Ebam, urged Prof. Yakubu, however to resist the temptation of compromising the outcome of the Adamawa guber re-rerun election, so as to redeem his image.
According to the group, Fintiri recently mounted pressure on INEC to cancel the list of its adhoc staff (trained for today’s election), and replace it with that of his cronies, who will do his bidding.
“Credible information available to us suggests that Gov. Fintiri is mounting pressure on the INEC Chair, who sits in Abuja to cancel the nomination of adhoc staff done by the Adamawa REC.
“We know that it is the duty of the REC to appoint and train such adhoc staff and he has done so. But pressure is being mounted on the INEC Chair to interfere. Prof Mahmoud Yakubu should not yield to this,” the statement warned.
