Africa: A Looming Calamity
Saleh Shehu Ashaka
In the midst of global shifts and evolving alliances, it is imperative for the West to recognize the crucial need for a comprehensive strategy tailored towards Africa. Failing to do so will not only leave Africa vulnerable but also have profound repercussions on its development. The consequences will ripple through the continent, leading to an alarming proliferation of civil wars and instability.
Africa finds itself at a critical juncture, with three distinct political groups vying for control. Firstly, there are military juntas, serving as puppets to Chinese and Russian criminals, exploiting the continent’s resources while undermining its independence. Secondly, we witness crime-driven religious factions, fueled by illegal activities such as mining, drug trafficking, and arms smuggling, falsely claiming religious motivations, exacerbating societal divisions. Lastly, we have a group of misguided elites who have failed in managing both the economy and security, mere lip-service advocates of Western liberal values and development objectives.
The ramifications of this trifecta of political forces are nothing short of disastrous. Africa stands on the precipice of becoming a breeding ground for civil wars, with conflicts erupting across the continent. The consequences will be far-reaching and catastrophic, not only for Africa but for the stability and security of the entire global community.
