Emefiele’s decision to run for the office of the president in 2023 followed months of speculations regarding his political aspiration, ahead of next year’s general polls.
Before now, Emefiele, had asked not to be drafted into the 2023 presidential race, as he would rather focus on fixing Nigeria’s monetary policies and aligning them with Federal Government’s fiscal policies.
Not minding his position on the matter, speculations have been rife that the Nigeria’s number one banker is being primed by some political interests to run for the office, an offer he has found difficult to resist.
There are indications that political hawks are set to fight him dirty in the coming days, as the nation’s ‘economy minder’ officially and publicly steps into the murky waters of the overcrowded 2023 political race.
