POLITICS DIGEST- The Osun state government has described as fake and misleading the viral video of a purported attack on Governor Adegboyega Oyetola at the Osogbo Eid ground on Saturday.
The governor’s spokesman, Ismail Omipidan, in a statement noted that the clip being passed round was an old video of an incident during the 2020 nationwide EndSARS rallies.
Calling on members of the public to disregard the video, Omipidan noted that neither the governor nor any state government official was attacked during the Eid prayers on Saturday.

“This is to alert the people of Osun and the general public to the circulation of a fake video of purported attack on Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s convoy at the Osogbo Eid praying ground today.
The video is being circulated by unscrupulous agents of the sinking Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun, in further demonstration of their political desperation. The PDP should know that there’s no amount of lies and propaganda that can make its candidate win the forthcoming governorship election.
For the avoidance of doubt, the said video in circulation is that of an incident during the 2020 nationwide EndSARS protest.
There was no attack on Governor Oyetola’s convoy or on any individual before, during and after the Eid prayers at the Osogbo praying ground.
The public is hereby advised to disregard the fake and misleading video in its entirety, and should be wary of purveyors of fake news.
The spreading of the video is another indication that the PDP has nothing to campaign on and is jittery of the impending defeat that awaits it at the July 16 governorship poll.”
