Alleged Organ Harvesting: Ekweremadu, Wife Denied Bail

Former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu have been denied bail and remanded in the UK Police custody over allegations of child trafficking and organ harvesting.
The couple was arrested and charged over the alleged facilitation of a child to the UK to harvest his organs, according to the Met statement on Thursday.
The victim, said the be a 15-year-old homeless boy, was said to have been picked on the street in Lagos.

Though another account of the incident said the boy is 21-year-old who is pretending to be a minor to get asylum in the country.
The statement further said that the accused were arrested after an investigation had been conducted by detectives on potential offenses under modern slavery legislation in May 2022.
Ekweremadu was said to have taken the boy go to the UK so he could donate a vital organ for his ailing child.
Sources close to the lawmaker are however said that he did everything properly and followed the due process including getting the consent of necessary people.
Details of how the attempted organ donation went awry are still not clear at the time of filing this report.
