“Five years have passed, and it has not been a smooth journey all through, but we have made significant progress. Today, we gathered to proudly share our story and showcase our identity and accomplishments with the world. This is also aimed at inviting more people to come and benefit from charity and humanity. We started from cradle and I can say we are now running.
“Due to like-minds with same target and purpose working for AMANI, we have been a able to easily build a functional system. Looking at the theme of the programme, you need to have faith which will guide and make you fly your wings and do unbelievable things. It is empowered by sisterhood because of course one tree cannot make a forest.”
On her part, President AMANI Women Cooperative Society, Latifat Badru said, “To join is very seemless. All you need to do is visit our website: www.amaniwomen.ng and fill out some information. This can be done at the comfort of your home using a mobile phone.
“We are like an accountability partner. If you need targeted savings or money to finance a project, you can partner with us. Another interesting thing is that we have dividends for members at the end of each financial year”.
An Islamic financial expert, Hajarat Usman reiterated the importance of the association.
She said, “What is unique about AMANI Women Cooperative Society is the islamic rules and regulations guiding us i.e. no interest.
“The only place we add mark-up is when we are doing business. If you want to by a land, a house or even a phone, we do that on your behalf and add a mark-up to it, there is transparency on the cost and profit element and this characteristic has distinguished us from conventional cooperative practice,” Hajarat said.
