Edo Guber: APC Chieftain Calls for Emergency NEC
POLITICS DIGEST– The pioneer Deputy National Auditor of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Captain Muhammad Bala Jibrin has called for an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party to address some contentious constitutional issues affecting the party.
He also appealed for the quick intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari and the party’s National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the festering crisis rocking the party in Edo State in order to avoid it’s implosion.
Jibrin, a former governoship aspirant in Bauchi State made these calls in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, expressed concern over the avoidable crisis in Edo State over the forth coming June 22 party’s primary election and the emergency of subsequent party flag bearer.
The APC Chieftain cited some breaches of party constitution by the National Working Committee (NWC) that can lead to a repeat of what caused the political misfortunes of the party in Zamfara, Bauchi and Rivers States in 2019. He also pointed out some state chapters that are crisis ridden would require the intervention of the party’s NEC.
He cautioned that “APC was at risk of losing its core, if it has not lost it already. The APC is now at the crossroads”.

According to Jibrin, “the NEC, is the only constitutional body that has the final say on the issues. This means that to ensure checks and balances and roll back the creeping improprieties and lawlessness, NEC should summon an emergency meeting and thrash out the issues once and for all”.
Jibrin who had served in various APC national assignments toward strengthening the party warned that the impending drift in the party will also require the quick intervention of President Buhari, the party’s National Leader, Asiwaju Tinubu and other well-meaning party leaders.
He said, “all well-meaning Nigerians will like to see President Buhari complete his term peacefully and leave behind a legacy of robust party politics, real democracy, democratic institution and popular participation of citizens.
“All well-meaning party leaders should reflect on this and take the necessary action before the APC scatters. If the APC is to survive and institutionalize itself, as President Buhari envisioned during the last NEC meeting, party leaders must wake up. We cannot continue to allow an Adams Oshiomhole to taint a worthy legacy of anti-corruption, good governance and infrastructural development put in place by our beloved President Muhammdu Buhari.
“I hereby call on President Muhammadu Buhari, the National leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all other well-meaning leaders of APC. To come out and condemn these acts of impunity”.
