APC Crisis: I Won’t Quit if I don’t Hear from Buhari Directly – Akpanudoedehe
By Kabir Akintayo
The secretary of the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), John Akpanudoedehe, has denied resigning from his position
Akpanudoedehe rushed down to the party secretariat after news of resignation was already trending online.
While addressing the press at the APC secretariat on Tuesday, he said the news of him resigning is false, adding that “you cannot tell me the president said I should resign without hearing from Buhari himself, I don’t believe any word until my chairman, Mai Mala Buni, is back from his medical trip”, he said
He added “I have read on social media, the story of my resigning as the national secretary of APC, I want to say it’s not true, I’ve not resigned. If I resign, you will see the letter of resignation from me.
I’m not bigger than the party, I’m not bigger than the leader of the party,’ he said.

Akpanudoedehe also maintained that, the Buni-led committee has done incredibly well to be discredited by some individuals.
“We have done so much for this party, when we inherited this party, you can recall that it was in its lowest ebb. We built the party and we covered a lot of ground. We were able to register 41 million people. We also bought this secretariat, this secretariat was negotiated by the then chairman, Chief John Oyegun, but we came and bought it.
“We have been able to recover what we lost, we brought in a lot of governors. All the states we lost, we brought them back. I have been able to go round this country and amended the constitution of the party which was difficult to do in less than one year. We’ve done the reconciliation and we’ve done ward congresses, chapter congresses, state congresses and we are about to do the national convention.
This is not the first time you are seeing a power play,” he said.
He stressed that all will be settled once his principal comes back from his medical trip.
“I’m waiting for the chairman, if we have a directive from Mr President that we should resign, we are not bigger than the president, we will do so if we hear from the president,” he added.
