APC To PDP: Your Criticism Of Buhari’s Assent Of PIB Irresponsible
POLITICS DIGEST- The All Progressives Congress (APC) has berated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its comment against the signing of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) into law.
It was earlier reported that the opposition party said the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the bill despite the public outcry is a confirmation of his disregard for Nigerians.
In a statement in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP said the President should have waited until the areas of concern are addressed.
Replying, the ruling APC described the comments made by the opposition PDP against the signing of the new law as “irresponsible and careless.”
In a statement on Tuesday signed by the National Secretary of the APC Caretaker Committee, John Akpanudoedehe, the party refuted the claim that President Buhari disregarded Nigerians by signing the PIB into law.
According to Akpanudoedehe, the assent to the bill by President Buhari has shown that the APC-led government is willing to do the right thing.

He, however, noted that the attacks of the new law by the PDP show that the failed opposition party is ready to play politics with everything.
The statement reads: “The new Petroleum Industry Act may not be a perfect document. No law anywhere in the world is a finished product.
“The Nigerian economy is the ultimate beneficiary as the new Petroleum Industry Act will overhaul the oil and gas industry by providing legal, governance, regulatory and fiscal framework for the Nigerian petroleum industry, the development of host communities as well as offer new fiscal incentives to investors.
Before now, Nigeria’s oil and gas industry lost as much as $15 billion in investments annually due to the delayed passage of the PIB. But that is about to change with the Petroleum Industry Act.
“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) irresponsible attacks of the Petroleum Industry Act shows that the failed opposition party is ready to play politics with the weather.
“We ask what was the fate of the PIB during the wasted 16 years the PDP was in government. We will let the discerning public be the judge. Meanwhile, the APC will not get tired of righting the PDP’s wrongs.”
