APC Ward Congress: Drama as party members organize parallel congress, snub consensus arrangement in Kano
POLITICS DIGEST– The crisis rocking the All Progressive Congress in Kano State on Saturday took another dimension as Sharada ward, Kano Municipal of the party snubs consensus arrangement and went ahead to conduct Congress.
POLITICS DIGEST recalls that the stakeholders meeting held in the state had resolved to adopt consensus arrangements in the ward congresses taking place in the state.
Briefing newsmen after the exercise, Sharada ward, on Saturday evening, a strong APC member and Chairman of Buhari Support Organization, Shehu Dalhatu kicked against the consensus arrangement noting the people should not be denied the right to exercise their franchise.
“We are here to exercise our franchise. We came to witness justice and seek justice.
“The statement by Governor Ganduje on resolve to adopt consensus candidates is an unfortunate statement. That is premeditating the election.
“Let it be free and fair election, especially ward election, this is where the party is suppose to show its position. Give people chance to express their opinion.

“Just some few days ago, the governor assembled some people who are mostly government officials and sympathizers at government house and decide for everybody there. That is not a stakeholders meeting of the party. There are millions of people who are APC supporters in Kano. Kano has the highest number of APC supporters and so you cannot just gather some few people at government house and decide for everybody,” he said.
He said the party leadership in the state have moved the party secretariat to the government house.
“The party leadership in the state have moved the party office to the government house. Go to the party office, nobody there. Wherever the Governor is that is where you see the party leadership. Whatever the Governor say that is what stands.
“It is unfortunate, this is party politics where all the people are supposed to be involved,” Dalhatu said.
Earlier, Kano Municipal Federal Representative and the Chairman, House Committee on National Security and Intelligence, Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada said as far as they were concerned they were not consulted on the consensus arrangement hence their resolve to go ahead and conduct election into the ward congresses.
