APC Won’t Lose Sleep Over Politicians’ Visits to Wike – Chieftain
By Ozumi Abdul
The Deputy Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Darlington Uwauju, has said the party was not bothered with the frequent visits of prominent politicians to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state.
This was as Uwauju threw a thinly veiled jibe at Wike that he had turned his private residence into a Mecca of sorts where people come for weekly photo session.
“The outgoing governor of Rivers State has turned his mansion at Rumueprikon into a Mecca of sorts where people come for weekly photo session in the name of political or private visit,” he said.

In a related development, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and the ex-Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, have said their visit to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, is not political.
Politics Digested reported yesterday that Babachir and Dogara on Friday held a closed-door meeting with the governor at his private residence in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
Their visit came barely 24 hours after Wike broke his silence since after the People Democratic Party’s presidential primary where former Vice President, Atiku Abubarkar, emerged as the party’s candidate.
Speaking on Saturday in Abuja, Babachir said they (including Dogara) were free to visit anybody, adding that those with any wrong impression about the visit should know that he worked with the governors while he served as the SGF.
“We are free to visit anyone in the country. Those insinuating anything should know that I was the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and I worked with all the governors.
“So, we are free to visit anyone. Everything is not political and those insinuating anything outside this are free to continue,” Babachir said.
