Arewa Coalition for Peace Warns Former Governor Fayose Against Divisive Remarks
POLITICS DIGEST – In a strongly worded statement, the Arewa Coalition for Peace has cautioned former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose against making inflammatory remarks about Northerners and Islam.
The coalition’s response comes after Fayose’s recent interview on Channel TV, where he was said to have insulted Northerners for practicing polygamy and having many children.
“Such statements demonstrate a lack of respect for the diversity of beliefs and practices within Nigeria,” the coalition said in the statement. “It proves you lack leadership skills, instead of pointing fingers and making divisive statements.”

The group urged Fayose to educate himself on the teachings of Islam before making “uninformed and disrespectful comments” about the religion. They noted that marriage and family are highly valued in Islam and that it is unfair to blame an entire group of people for the issues facing the country.
According to the coalition, the problems plaguing Nigeria stem from “poor leadership and mismanagement of funds by individuals such as yourself, who lack vision and integrity.” They called on Fayose to reflect on his actions and make the necessary adjustments to better serve the people.
The coalition strongly urged Fayose to retract his statements promptly, emphasizing the need to work towards unity, understanding, and progress for a better Nigeria.
They warned that “insults and division will only set us back further” and expressed hope that Fayose will reconsider his remarks and strive to promote peace and harmony in the country.
The statement was signed by Comrade Idrith Ibrahim unguwar Gini, the Convener of the Arewa Coalition for Peace.
