Atiku, Obi’s Election Petitions Waste of Time – Buba Galadima
POLITICS DIGEST – Renowned chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has noted that no politician in Nigeria has triumphed in a presidential petition case since 1979.
Galadima’s comments come as a warning to Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who are currently pursuing legal action at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in hopes of overturning the results of the 2023 election.
During a recent appearance on the current affairs program Political Paradigm, aired on Channels TV, Galadima expressed his scepticism regarding the tribunal’s ability to deliver a favourable outcome for Obi and Atiku. He cautioned that their efforts might be in vain, a mere waste of time and valuable resources.

In addition to casting doubt on their chances, Galadima called for the dismissal of Mahmud Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Galadima accused Yakubu of undermining the democratic will of the Nigerian people in the preceding presidential election, surpassing even the controversial actions of the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, who incited a cash crisis through the Naira redesign/swap policy.
“The time has come for the INEC chairman to be held accountable. His actions surpass those of Godwin Emefiele. By colluding with certain individuals, he has perpetrated a crime of immense magnitude—a betrayal of the will of the Nigerian people,” Galadima declared passionately.
Currently, Obi and Atiku persist in challenging the victory of Tinubu in the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja.
