Atiku, 16 Other Presidential Hopeful Raise 643m for PDP as May 28 Primaries Loom

Former Nigerian Vice President, Alh. Atiku Abubakar; immediate-past President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; Governors Nyesom Wike, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and Bala Muhammad of Rivers, Sokoto and Bauchi States, together with 12 other presidential aspirants have raised a whooping N646 million for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Aside Atiku, Wike, Saraki, Tambuwal, and Muhammad, other bigwigs of the main opposition who have thrown their hat in the ring, seeking to replace incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, include a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, and Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom.
In the race, also, is a former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi; former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose; a United States-based medical practitioner, Nwachukwu Anakwenze and media mogul, Dele Momodu.

Also eyeing PDP’s ticket are former banker and economist, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen; a pharmacist, Sam Ohuabunwa; former Speaker of Abia House of Assembly, Cosmos Ndukwe; Charles Ugwu, and Rt. Hon Chikwendu Kalu, as well as the only female aspirant in the race, Oliver Tareila Diana.
PDP, our correspondent, gathered concluded the sale and submission of its nomination and expression of interest forms for all elective positions ahead of the 2023 general elections, yesterday.
The 646m, Politics Digest learnt, was the grand total of the 30m each of the presidential hopeful paid as nomination form to the PDP.
Atiku, a serial presidential candidate, and the rest 16 aspirants also coughed out 6m to obtain the PDP’s expression of interest form to signify their interest in the 2023 presidency race.
Based on party policy, the only female aspirant only paid for the expression of interest form which is N6m.
The race is now set for the party’s primaries slated for next month, precisely May 28 and 29, 2022.
