Beyond Loyalty and Oluremi Tinubu’s Economic Arguments
By Nasir Abdulquadri
The President’s wife is mistaken in her defense of her husband, asserting that Nigerians should not hold him accountable for the country’s hardship. This stance is a sentimental misrepresentation that undermines the empathy, creativity, and innovation required to tackle the problem.
When leaders anywhere absolve themselves of responsibility, they tend to view victims as the cause of their own hardship, rather than taking ownership of the issue.
This mindset is an example of a doctor who refuses to take responsibility for their patient’s ailment, thereby neglecting to provide adequate care and go all out to ensure his/her survival.
Again, this approach perpetuates a harmful narrative that disregards the agency and humanity of those suffering. It is essential for the First Lady to recognize and challenge this her flawed mindset, acknowledging that the President’s policies have consequences that require accountability.

Mr President should start collaborating with brilliant economists with welfarism biases and experts, rather than relying on greedy , bourgeois and pseudo intellectual advisers.
Additionally, it entails acknowledging the limitations of total deregulation in an import-dependent economy and working towards more effective solutions. Is it not self-indictment and shameful to hold sole privately owned refinery reponsible for total deregulation of oil sector? As in….?
Anyway, we are lucky in this country, because too much of music has made it difficult for Nigerians to dissect the imports of words uttered by leaders.
Otherwise, once the President has asserted he is not to be blamed, then someone must be held responsible… And it could be anybody. The centre won’t hold again o! #Deep
Ultimately, it is very important for the President and his administration to take responsibility for their actions and work towards creating a more just and equitable society for all Nigerians.
