Blasphemy: Prophet Muhammed was Insulted but never Killed or Attacked his Critics – Sheikh Gumi

Respected cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, has called on Muslims to stop overreacting over cases of blasphemy since Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) did not attack or kill those who abused him in his lifetime.
He called on scholars across the country to teach their followers the correct message of Islam and shun violent messages.
This was gathered in a live video he made on his Facebook page on Saturday while commenting on the Sokoto incident, enjoinng Muslim faithful to keep mute since the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad has already released a statement on the incident.

He said that Muslims in Nigeria should acknowledge the fact that Nigeria is not an Islamic country, therefore they must appreciate diversity in whatever they do.
“He refused to kill those who insulted him publicly because he doesn’t want people to say that Muhammad (PBUH) is killing people because they insulted him.
“People would say that Muslims are killing people and others would even say that they learned it from their holy Prophet which is bad,” he said.
“Those clerics who ask people to kill and even said that they will kill or slaughter people. Who authorised them to kill or slaughter people?
“No one can kill except Allah’s laws and until one is found guilty only then he or she can be killed.
“Whoever kills anyone must be arrested by the government and made to face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
