Breaking: APC Crisis Deepens as Governors’ Meeting Ends in Disarray
By Kabir Akintayo
There are strong indications that the internal contradictions rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) are not yet over as another meeting of stakeholders meant to resolve the division ended in stalemate on Tuesday night.
Governors elected on the platform of the party had converged on the Kebbi state Governors’ Lodge in Abuja to find lasting solutions to the cracks within the party.
Not long after the meeting commenced, however, the governors began to storm out of the venue one after the other, suggesting that there was no end in sight to the division.
While there was no briefing by the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) Chairman, Atiku Bagudu, the governors who stormed out of the meeting also declined to speak with journalists on the outcome of their deliberation.
Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-rufai, was the first to leave the venue, followed by Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state and Hope Uzodinma of Imo state.

Fayemi had a friendly chat with journalists, after which he said “there is nothing to talk about, we only came to celebrate the signing of the electoral bill by President Buhari, so we don’t have any discussion.”
Politics Digest had earlier reported how some powerful stakeholders in the APC, including some governors, are clamouring for a change in the March 26 date for the national convention of the party.
Some governors also reportedly want President Muhammadu Buhari to drop Senator Abdullahi Adamu as his preferred choice for the chairmanship of the party.
The President rejected the two requests in a meeting with the governors earlier on Tuesday, according to informed sources in the Presidential Villa.
Other governors present at the meeting were Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state, Gboyega Oyetola of Osun state, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara state, Aminu Masari of Katsina state, Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state, Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state, Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state, Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa state and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.
