BREAKING: APC Pass Vote of Confidence on Shaaban Sharada As It Suspends Ward Chairman in Kano
POLITICS DIGEST– Controversy trails activities of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano as the party pass a vote of confidence on the Chairman, House Committee on National Security and Intelligence at the House of Representatives, Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada shortly after he was suspended by the party.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Sharada ward on Wednesday, suspended, Chairman, House Committee on National Security and Intelligence at the House of Representatives, Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada.
Similarly, APC has suspended Sharada ward Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar for gross misconduct and unilaterally suspending Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, a lawmaker and former aide of President Muhammadu Buhari without carrying other executive members along.
Solacebase had reported on Wednesday that APC in a suspension letter jointly signed by the party ward Chairman and Secretary, at Sharada ward, Kano Municipal, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar and Auwalu Saidu Muhammad respectively accused the lawmaker of antiparty activities and character assassination of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and leadership of the party.
However, another statement released shortly and signed by 19 APC Sharada ward members, was titled ‘’ Disclaimer of Suspension and vote of confidence to Hon. Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, A member House of Representatives, Kano Municipal, Federal Constituency, Kano State.’’
The statement described the purported suspension of the lawmaker as baseless with a selfish interest of political godfathers of those who signed the letter as it was not carried out with due process.

‘’The people that disallowed the Hon. Member to revalidate his Membership Card of APC are the same people claiming to have suspended him from the party. All these are done to him for the massive support he has been getting and receiving from the populace of his constituency in Kano Municipal Local Government of Kano State,’’ the statement said.
According to the statement, the lawmaker was not accorded a fair hearing as he was never invited to defend himself.
‘’There was no invitation letter sent to him personally or his constituency office to appear before the disciplinary committee.’’
‘’ Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada only saw the defective letter of invitation circulating on social media without date or venue of the sitting.’’
Hence the statement said ‘’At the end, on behalf of the majority members of the Sharada Ward Excos whose affixed their signature below: we have unanimously agreed and suspended the APC party interim chairman of Sharada Ward and replace him with Ibrahim Mu’azu (Birai) for his gross misconduct and denied the majority of the Excos of their constitutional rights, for them to be part of any decision-making processes, whereas in contrary he unilaterally took the decision without our consent and involvement.
‘’However, we unanimously agreed and formed a new disciplinary committee and charged the committee to proceed and take the necessary and appropriate disciplinary and legal action against Alhaji Sani Fata Sharada caretaker, interim Chairman APC, Kano Municipal Local Government, being a member of the party from Sharada Ward, for his effort to conspire and bring disunity within the party leadership at Sharada ward for his personal and selfish interest.’’
It then constituted another disciplinary committee headed by Mukkata Bala Tanka Tukuntawa as Chairman and Halliru Habibu (Rawi) Sharada as Secretary
It said ‘’We the undersigned exco-members and by the power conferred upon us by the provision of Article 11 of All Progressive Congress Constitution (as amended) as part of the party organs hereby shown our commitment and solidarity to the Hon. Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada and is still the person we are solidly casting our vote of confidence to him as per the provision of Article 9 which stipulates for the membership of any member of the party.’’
