Finally, Britain Leaves European Union Today
POLITICS DIGEST – After three-and-a-half years struggle of three Prime Ministers and endless votes in Parliament since the 2016 Brexit referendum, the United Kingdom will finally leave the European Union (EU) today (Friday), 31st January 2020 at 11p.m
According to a broadcast published by Mail Online, Johnson will insist that Brexit marks ‘not an end but a beginning’.
After today, the United Kingdom will enter the transition period that was agreed between the British government and the EU.
During this transition period, Britain will still be under the laws of the European Union.

Johnson will convene a symbolic Cabinet meeting Friday afternoon in Sunderland, the first city to declare for Brexit when the 2016 referendum results came out.
Other Brexiteers will be celebrating in grander style, as parties are being held across the country including one opposite the Houses of Parliament, the body that thwarted Brexit so many times in 2019.
CNN noted that the Union flag will be removed from all EU institutions and senior EU politicians might make statements expressing that this is a sad day for Europe and that they want to remain the closest of friends with Europe.
After today, The UK will not have any meaningful representation in EU institutions and will no longer attend any meetings of EU leaders.
Meaning it will be obeying EU rules while having no say in the policies of the EU.
