Buhari Inaugurates Party Consultative Committee for Executive, Legislative Arms
POLITICS DIGEST – Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari on Monday presided over the inauguration of Executive/Legislative/Party Consultative Committee at the State House, Abuja.
The committee will ensure cooperation in the federal government so that the Buhari-led administration will deliver on its promises
President Muhammadu Buhari has intervened in the friction often ensuing between the legislative and executive arms of the federal government.
The president did this by inaugurating a party consultative committee which will henceforth act as a middle body to mediate peace and bring about synergy between both arms of the government.

Applauding President Buhari’s timely move, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha pointed out that the committee will foster smooth function and relationship of the legislature and the executive arm so that the Buhari-led administration can deliver on its promises.
The Senate president, Ahmad Lawan, after the inaugural ceremony said, actions of presidential appointees that tarnish the image of the country by abusing the legislature will no longer be tolerated.
Lawan expressed certainty that the new committee will achieve exactly the objective for which the president created it.
He assured the general public that; the committee will not in any way put an end to checks and balances in the government.
At the meeting were Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN; APC’s Interim Chairman, Mai Mala Buni, Secretary of APC Caretaker Committee, Sen. Akpan Udoedehe and other top government functionaries.
Others were Senate and House of Representatives leaders, such as the Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan; Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege; House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Idris Wase among others.
