2023: Buhari, North Indebted to Tinubu – Shettima
POLITICS DIGEST- The Senator representing Borno Central, Kashim Shettima, has said the North owes Ahmed Bola Tinibu massive support for his 2023 presidential ambition
Speaking in an interview with Daily Trust, Shettima said: “Without Tinubu’s huge support, President Buhari could not have won the elections he won two times and we all know that the north alone could not bring him to the State House.”
Shettima said that Tinubu single-handedly repackaged President Buhari and sold him to the nation in 2015 after he lost in three previous attempts.
The former governor of Borno state noted that Buhari had been declared a bigot in the South, adding it took the efforts of Tinubu to sell him and make him electable.
The lawmaker said his political association with Tinibu, which he’s proud of, is purely based on the principles of payback and consistency.
He said that Tinubu has played a pivotal role in both the formation and victory of the APC, adding that: “for us in Borno, if we were to abandon him, how would anyone trust us as northerners? In Borno, we stand by those who stand by us. This is the kind of our politics and philosophy.”
