CAF Confederation Cup: Mustapha pledges $20,000 to Kwara United
POLITICS DIGEST- The All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial candidate for Kwara Central Mallam Saliu Mustapha has extended a financial package worth twenty thousand US dollars to Nigeria’s representatives in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup, Kwara United, ahead of the team’s first round match against AS Douanes of Niger in Lagos on Sunday.
He explained in a post on his social media handle that the package is inclusive of a promise of $500 for every goal scored in the first leg of the encounter at the Mobolaji Johnson stadium Onikan.
“I am pledging $500 for each goal to encourage the team to score as many goals as possible against the Nigeriens and there is an additional $10,000 on the table for the players if they make it into the group stage.
“An even more handsome cash reward awaits Kwara United if they win the tournament.

“I have equally directed my team to make adequate transport arrangement, in conjunction with the Supporters’ Club of Kwara United, for fans who may be willing to watch the match live in Lagos. There will also be regular tickets made available free for the contingent.
“This is my modest way of supporting Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s vision of constantly positioning Kwara on the big stage through sports and other endeavors. More importantly, this gesture is to encourage Kwara United FC to make Kwara and Nigeria proud in the continental competition.
“It is my expectation that the financial reward will spur the team to achieve greatness, which has been their hallmark for years, he added.
Mustapha who is also the Turaki of Ilorin had last month, on the request of the Kwara United management, sponsored an ‘open gate’ arrangement for the team’s supporters to watch, free of charge, the final home match against Mountain of Fire FC in the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
