POLITICS DIGEST – An All Progressives Congress (APC)women group, under the auspices the APC Women Support Alliance, has enjoined the national leadership of the party to organise the national convention at the earliest possible time.
The women’s group said the APC as the ruling party has all it takes to win the 2023 elections.
The group, therefore, called on the interim committee, led by Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni to live up to INEC requirements, which stipulates that “an internal management must be in place duly elected other than interim committee before general elections”.
Their spokesperson, Hajia Indatu Mukhtar, emphasised that it is becoming embarrassing for President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Assembly leadership and other party chieftains to ignore the most important constitutional provision.

Muktar said: “Not all the geopolitical zones are represented in the present arrangement as 2023 approaches. This is the singular reason why we, as mothers of the party, must not fold our arms for things to deteriorate. It is high time we organised the convention since we have aspirants who possess the qualities to move the country forward.”
The group cited the loss of confidence in the leadership of the management committee as the reason for the division in some chapters.
Mukhtar added: “The APC as the ruling party has all it takes to win the 2023 elections, but more effort has to be put in by way of electing credible individuals that can steer the ship of the party. The loss of confidence in the leadership of the management committee is responsible for the divisions we are having in local government, state and zonal chapters and you don’t expect to win any of the elections with these divisions.
“As such, the Interim committee should be winded up in order for us to forge ahead, in order to continue beyond 2023. The earlier the better for us; we implore the president to intervene, so as to achieve our aim.”
