COMPRO Exam Not Organized to Punish Workers, Says New HoSF
POLITICS DIGEST – The newly-inaugurated Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, on Wednesday, said that the Confirmatory Promotional (COMPRO) Examination for public servants is not a punitive exercise.
She disclosed this while monitoring the 2024 COMPRO exam at two different Centres in Bwari Area Council of the FCT.
About 12,444 candidates nationwide will be participating in the Computer-Based Test, CBT, exam coordinated by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB.
But only 2,324 federal civil servants are scheduled to sit for the examination in Abuja.

Dr. Raymond Omachi, the Permanent Secretary, Common Services Office, who represented Mrs. Walson-Jack, explained that the OHCSF partnered JAMB in conducting the exercise as part of the former’s commitment to entrenching meritocracy and integrity in the civil service.
“We want to ensure that everything is done transparently and in line with our digitalization policy. We aim to begin building the skill sets necessary for us to function as a world-class civil service,” he said.
Politics Digest reports that the COMPRO exam is conducted to help workers in the civil service gain promotions.
It is mostly written by newly-appointed Administrative Officers, Foreign Affairs officers, Executive Officers, Police Officers, Para Military and other professionals in the federal public service.
The examination, conducted by the Career Management Office of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, is a statutory requirement for the career progression of all staff in the public service.
