2023: Constituents Raise 23m For Kawu Sumaila’s APC Senate Forms
POLITICS DIGEST- No fewer than 23 million naira has been gathered for a Kano South Senatorial District aspirant, Mr. Suleiman Kawu Sumaila.
The money was raised through a crowd funding initiative for Sumaila to purchase the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senate nomination and interest forms, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Recalled that the ruling party had earlier announced 20 million as the cost of getting its nomination and expression of interest forms for the Senate.
The Party also slated April 29 to May 6, 2022 as period for the sale of the forms.
Sumaila, is vying for the seat presently occupied by Senator Kabiru Gaya, a former Kano State Governor.
Politics Digest learnt that the 23m was raised for Sumaila, a former House of Representatives member, through donations by his political associates, admirers, electorates and some constituents of Kano South.

The senatorial hopeful, according to a member of his campaign team, will use the donations to fund his electioneering ahead and during the APC primaries, and also during the general election.
“Most of the people who donated for Hon. Kawu Sumaila’s senate project are not only from his senatorial district and Kano. There are persons from neighbouring states, also.
“That millions of naira will selflessly be donated by spirited individuals shows how much Hon. Kawu Sumaila is connected to all and sundry. Our candidate should thank God he still enjoys the support of his people,” the campaign team member said, declining to give his name.
Recalled that the former Kano National Assembly, NASS, member narrowly lost the 2019 Senatorial Primaries in controversial circumstances to Sen. Gaya, though some delegates at the shadow primaries then, claimed he won the contest.
In fact, political analysts described the last APC senatorial primaries for Kano South in 2019 as the ‘most fraudulent’ poll in the history of Kano State, Politics Digest learnt.
