Count Me out of Yari’s Aides Arrest, Prosecution – Matawalle
POLITICS DIGEST – Zamfara State governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has lamented that some mischievous politicians in the state are linking the arrest of some offenders and two aides of former Governor Abdulaziz Yari to him.
The governor, who condemned the attacks on his person, said he wanted to draw the attention of everyone to the issue, pointing out that he had no hands in the arrest of any offender or any of Yari’s aides within and outside the state.
He said: “Anyone who finds himself in collusion course with the law of the land should courageously face his travails with the law of and desist from fixing blames on the office of the governor or his person.
“The police and indeed all other security operatives are not my property, nor are they working for my personal interest, but for the well being of Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole.

“Matawalle, who spoke through a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Hon. Zailani Bappa, said, “It has been a while now that after the attainment of peace in the state, some enemies of the state and Nigeria have indulged themselves in making inflammatory statements and sometimes actions aimed at reversing the hands of the clock.
“Those arrested and taken to court willingly broke the law and were apprehended by the agents of the law, not by Governor Matawalle. They should be courageous enough to own up their mischief and defend themselves before the law.
“It would be recalled that since security operatives arrested and prosecuted two aides of former Governor Yari over some statements in they claimed that over three million weapons were in bushes in Zamfara State. However, Hon. Ibrahim Danmaliki Gidangoga and Hon. Bello Gamji Dankande, were not granted bail due to security reasons when they were brought before the Shari’a Court, which fixed hearing of the case on Thursday December 12, 2019.
