Court to Arraign PDP Candidate in Anambra, Others For Alleged Certificate Forgery
POLITICS DIGEST – The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN) will today at the Federal High Court Abuja, put on trial the senatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections for Anambra South, Dr. Obinna Uzoh, for allegedly forging court judgment of an Abuja High Court to remove Senator Ifeanyi Ubah from office.
The PDP senatorial candidate along with Anani Anacletus Chika, Eziafa Enwedo, Aroh Ifunaya and Faith Samuel, are to be docked before Justice Okon Abang on a six-count charge bothering on alleged conspiracy and forgery of court documents.
Mr. Uzoh was alleged to have conspired with Anani Anacletus Chika, Eziafa Enwedo, Aroh Ifunaya and Faith Samuel to forge originating summon in a suit No. CV/3044/2018 instituted against Senator Ubah, contrary to section 3(6) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act and punishable under section 1 of the same Act.

They were also said to have conspired in September 2019 at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja with intent to defraud, made a false judgment in suit No. CV/3044/2018 with intent to be acted upon to the prejudice of Senator Ubah, contrary to Section 1 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
Among others, the defendants were at various times alleged to have forged filing receipts of a court case and also a seal of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to enable them institute a pre-election matter and to challenge the senatorial election of Senator Ubah of the Young Progressives Party (YPP).
Besides, the defendants were also alleged to have back-dated several court documents which they used to obtain judgment against the election of Senator Ubah.
Mr. Uzoh, who contested the senatorial election along with the incumbent Senator Ubah but lost at the poll conducted in 2019, had dragged Ubah before a High Court of the FCT sitting in Bwari, alleging among others that Ubah forged a National Examination Council (NECO) certificate which he used to secure clearance for his participation in the election.
