COVID-19: Sokoto Seeks FG’s Support to Curb Spread
POLITICS DIGEST – Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has sought the logistics and technical support of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to curb the spread of the virus in the state.
The governor, who also imposed 8 p.m to 6 a.m curfew on the state as from on Monday, excluded personnel and workers involved in the provision of essential services from the restriction.
He directed that all public and civil servants on Grade Level 13 and above not covered by the existing stay-at-home order must wear face masks to work as well as to all public places.
In a state-wide broadcast on Sunday night, Tambuwal decried the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state with 66 positive cases and eight deaths.

“We are all aware of the critical state of our nation, as occasioned by the current trend of COVID-19 pandemic that affects the entire globe.
“Also, we are experiencing the spread of the virus as we recorded 66 positive cases and, sadly, eight deaths amongst our people as at today. Statistics is, unfortunately, putting us amongst the frontline states in the spread of the pandemic,” he said.
