COVID-19: We’ll Declare Kano Virus-Free In Few Weeks – Official
The Coordinator of the Kano state Technical Committee on COVID-19, Dr Tijjani Hussein, has declared that in a matter of few weeks the state would be declared COVID-19 free.
Mr Hussein, who made the declaration during the daily briefing on COVID-19 in Kano on Thursday, called on the residents to follow the preventive measures against the spread of the disease.
He said: “if the Kano people will strictly observe the protocols on COVID-19 by observing regular hand washing, wearing face mask and maintaining social distancing, I assure that in the next few weeks, Kano would be declared COVID-19 free.”

The coordinator also disclosed that all the confirmed cases were distributed across 30 local government areas of the state, adding that 90% of the patients are from the Kano Metropolitan.
He added that most of the confirmed cases in the state are male, representing 76% while others are female, representing 24%.
In his response, the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, noted that the state is gradually learning to live with the virus, saying: “initially, the situation was looking new, unusual and unfamiliar, but now we have known the easiest way to be infected and the safest ways to stay safe.”
“We have now known the 3 commandments to avoid being infected-social distances, washing hand and wearing face masks.
If we continue practicing these commandments, we will eradicate the virus in Kano,” he added.
