COVID-19: Kano Labour Hails Ganduje’s Effort, Urges Members to Comply With Stray-at-Home Order
POLITICS DIGEST – The Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has commended what it referred to as the ‘proactive steps’ taken so far by the state Government in tackling the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the State.
The union gave the recommendation in a statement on Wednesday signed by its chairman, Comr. Kabiru Ado Minjibir and made available to newsmen in Kano.
According to NLC, the creation and equipping of Isolation Centres in the state is commendable, while calling on the civil servants to comply with the stay-at-home order issued by the state.

NLC adde: “We would like to use this medium to appeal to workers and the general public to support and cooperate with Government in this regard. They should abide by directives that may be issued from time to time by Government and health workers in the best interest of their safety and well-being.
“The Congress wishes to call on all stakeholders especially the health practitioners and the media (press) to continue to sensitize the general public professionally and avoid any act(s) that may create confusion and unnecessary panic among the general public.
“Proprietors of private companies and organizations in the State are also hereby advised to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their workers and customers/clients against the spread of the disease.
“Finally, in this trying time, workers and the general public are advised to observe and respect the rules of personal hygiene and other eating habits, and at the same time remain calm and intensify in prayers for immediate termination of the pandemic”, NLC added.
The Ganduje-led administration in Kano state has recently closed all schools in the state and ordered all its civil servants to stay at home for to weeks to contain the spread of the pandemic in the state.
