Democracy Day: Tinubu Pays Tribute to Heroes, Pledges to Listen to Nigerians
POLITICS DIGEST- In a nationwide address on Wednesday in Abuja, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu honored the heroes of democracy who fought tirelessly for the birth of Nigeria’s democracy. He acknowledged the ultimate sacrifices made by notable figures like Chief MKO Abiola, Kudirat Abiola, General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, and Pa Alfred Rewane, among others.

Similarly, the President eulogized the memories of prominent democracy activists who have passed on, including Chief Anthony Enahoro, Chief Abraham Adesanya, Commodore Dan Suleiman, and many others. He also recognized the sacrifices of those who went into exile, such as General Alani Akinrinade and Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, as well as those who continued the struggle within Nigeria, including Olisa Agbakoba, Femi Falana, and Senator Shehu Sani.
Tinubu acknowledged the selfless devotion of these individuals, stating, “The sacrifices they made, and the precious gift brought about by their selfless devotion can never be repaid.” He celebrated their bravery and commitment to the democratic struggle, saying, “They bravely surrendered their futures, so that our nation might have a better one.”
