Edo Guber Poll: Youths Pledge Support for Frontline Candidate
POLITICS DIGEST- Ahead of next month’s governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, some members of the party, under the aegis of Concerned APC Youths in Edo Central Senatorial District, have supported a frontline aspirant, Chris Ogienmwonyi.
They called for a fair and just process in arriving at a consensus candidate that would represent the true spirit and ethos of the APC.
The youths, yesterday in a communiqué after their meeting at Irrua in Esan Central Local Government, which was signed by their leaders: Itua Otoide and John Isesele, noted that all stakeholders of the party must be carried along, to ensure hitch-free primaries.

They advised APC leaders to save the party from disintegration, thereby ensuring that the primary election was not skewed to favour a particular governorship aspirant, as witnessed during the botched April 30, 2020 controversial shadow poll in Benin.
The youths said: “Members of APC’s screening committee, in their search for a consensus governorship candidate that will be able to wrest for the APC’s ticket against the incumbent, Governor Godwin Obaseki, must consider integrity, antecedents and records of public service of all the aspirants seeking the party’s ticket.
“We are pleading with the leadership of APC to consider Ogiemwonyi, an engineer, as the consensus candidate, in view of his sterling qualities and accomplishments in public service, which are assets to anyone seeking to occupy the number one seat of power in Edo State.
“For any governorship candidate in Edo State to be able to defeat the incumbent governor, such person must be a sellable, accessible, prudent and a loyal party faithful, with impeccable character. Among all the aspirants, Ogiemwonyi is the only aspirant that can represent all the interests in APC.”
