Eid-el-Kabir: Kano Pardons 90 Inmates

In the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Kano state government has pardoned 90 inmates in the Gorondutse Correctional Service Centre of the state.
The brings the total number of inmates that have enjoyed such gesture by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to 3,898.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mallam Abba Anwar, the move was in compliance with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directives that correctional centres across the country be decongested. Anwar added that the exercise is conducted through the State Prerogative of Mercy Committee before Sallah festivities, while inmates’ releases are usually effected on Sallah days.
In his remarks, the Controller of Kano Correctional Centre, Sulaiman M. Inuwa, hailed Governor Ganduje, revealing further that, in his 30 years of service he had never seen a governor with such incredible heart of forgiveness.
Inmates were sighted rejoicing and hailing the governor for their release.
