BREAKING: El-rufa’i Recovers From COVID-19
POLITICS DIGEST – Kaduna state Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has recovered and tested negative for COVID-19.
He announced this on his official twitter handle a moment ago.
According to him: “I am delighted to report today that after nearly four weeks of observing a strict medical regime, I have now received the all-clear after two consecutive test results.”
El-Rufai was the index case in Kaduna, having been declared positive on March 28.
He praised the medical personnel of the state’s Ministry of Health and the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital who managed his case.
He also praised his deputy governor, Hadiza Balarabe, for her reassuring leadership in his absence, and also commended all the officials managing the coronavirus outbreak in the state.
He said, “I am delighted to report today, that after nearly four weeks of observing a strict medical regime, I have now received the all-clear after two consecutive negative test results.
“I thank Almighty Allah for His grace and mercy. I also acknowledge with gratitude the massive outpouring of sympathy, prayers, and public support that followed the disclosure of the infection.

Recall that El-Rufai had on March 29 confirmed that he tested positive for coronavirus, but had revealed that he was not showing symptoms.
He is one of three Nigerian governors who tested positive for coronavirus and is the last to recover. Oyo’s Governor Seyi Makinde, and Bauchi’s Governor Bala Mohammed are the other two.
The Governor was Kaduna’s index case, but eight more cases have been recorded in the state since his diagnosis. Four have them have been released, leaving the state with only four active cases.
Nigeria has recorded a total of 782 coronavirus cases in 24 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
