Emefiele: Ohanaeze will not Interfere with Investigation – Iwuayanwu
POLITICS DIGEST – Ohaneze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has said that it doesn’t want to be dragged into any controversy on the recent suspension of Mr Godwin Emefiele, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
President General of the group, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, in a statement on Sunday dissociated the group from a publication, which described as ethnic cleansing, the suspension of Emefiele by President Bola Tinubu.
In the statement, Iwuanyanwu recalled that one Mazi Chima Uzor, who claimed to be the Director of National Interest Matters of the body, had issued a statement condemning the suspension and arrest of Emefiele.
He said that Ohanaeze did not issue the statement.
“That statement was false in its entirety and never emanated from Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide under him.
“The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide under him, had no intension whatsoever to interfere with disciplinary actions by government on officials of the government,” he said.

He described the said Mazi Chima Uzor as an impersonator and unknown to Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
He stressed m that there is no office for National Interest Matters in Ohanaeze Ndidigbo Worldwide.
“Ohanaeze also has no intension whatsoever to interfere with the investigations by the DSS or other security agencies of the country.
“Individuals have a right to go to court and when the court of law proves the individual innocent and Ohanaeze is convinced that the individual is innocent, Ohanaeze will take every step necessary to assist the individual.
“On the other hand, if the individual is guilty, the Ohanaeze will be unable to assist”.
Iwuanyanwu, described the case of Mazi Chima Uzor as a matter of criminal impersonation.
“By this disclaimer, we are requesting the security agents to treat this matter as a very serious crime.
“We wish finally to alert the public on many fraudsters who are tarnishing the good name and reputation of Ohanaeze Ndigbo by making false publications in the name of the group for selfish interests.
“We hope with the help of security agents, they will soon be flushed out.” He said
