EXCLUSIVE: Shekarau, Sumaila others to dump APC

POLITICS DIGEST – Former governor of Kano State and Senator representing Kano Central Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau is set to announce his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shekarau who is leading the G7 faction of the party in the state will finalise his next political move after a meeting with some stakeholders and associates at his residence by 4pm.
A close associate of the Senator told POLITICS DIGEST that Ganduje will not support the senatorial bid of Shekarau despite a directive by the National Chairman of the party Abdullahi Adamu that all former governors who are Senators should be given automatic tickets.

“Ganduje should not be trusted, he just want to disgrace us as he has directed Senator Bashir Garba Lado to purchase the form. He is insisting that Primary Election must take place while other Senators who are former governors were given automatic tickets.
‘His Excellency will be announcing his next political move by 4pm after a stakeholders meeting,” an associate of Shekarau, who pleaded anonymity, said.
It would be recalled that a former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and Chairman of the House Committee on Pension on Sunday announced his defection from the APC.
Rurum said his decision to dump the party was because of the unfair treatment of his zone in all affairs of the party.
POLITICS DIGEST exclusively gathered that a former Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives Suleiman Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila and Abdulmumin Jibrin are on their way to the NNPP.
They will be meeting Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso later on Monday at his residence in Abuja.
