Fanning the Flame of Disunity in Katagum Zone? No! Not Again, By Comr Doji Doji
POLITICS DIGEST– Man is not, by nature, deserving of all that he wants. When we think that we are automatically entitled to something that is when we start walking all over others to get it. – Criss Jami
Selfish interest has divided Katagum zone for time immemorial and some people are taking the advantage of the silence of our people. There is no way we will allow someone who doesn’t know the struggle we are putting in place to restore the lost unity, which is our only collective strength in Katagum to determine the future of the zone.
There was an attempt yesterday to fan the flame of disunity among Katagum people through a half-cooked story prepared to confuse the gullible minds. What caught my attention the most were two things:
First, the writer said that Hon. Farouq Mustapha was a Rep member from 2007 to 2015 which is entirely untrue. Farouq was a Rep member between 2003 and 2007, that is why I doubt very much if the writer is from Kasuwar Kaji, Azare as claimed in his article. And the second was the concentration of all his energy and treacherous mind on Azare politicians.
It may confuse the reader between Azare, and Katagum. Azare is the main town of Katagum LGA, and Katagum is another name that wrap all other six LGAs including Katagum LGA such as Zaki, Giade, Shira/Yana, Gamawa, Jama’are and Itas/Gadau. that is why you it is difficult to point out the main roots of our elites. For example, the late Tatari Ali was from Zaki, Alhaji Ahmad Yayale’s root was first from Gadiya a village in Gamawa then migrated to Shira, the current Chief Judge Tanko is from Giade.
Even the famous late Sule Katagum “Wazirin Katagum” hails from Zaki LGA and not Katagum LGA. Another example, my wife is from Azare and her mother from Gamawa. So it cracks ribs whenever someone is trying to draw a line among Katagum people. the writer lacks substantial knowledge of Katagum that is why he used axe on rice farm.
Even Mallam Adamu Adamu whom the writer put so much energy on is rooted to Gamawa LGA, he is my uncle and he has brothers and relatives currently living in Gamawa LGA.

There were posters of Zainab Ibrahim Gamawa across Gamawa in 2003 to contest for a Rep member. Yes, I can recall that. Zainab a cousin sister to Mallam Adamu Adamu developed so much concern about the poor leadership in Gamawa, a kind of compassion that ignites the spirit of Katagum people.
Whoever attempts to disunite Katagum will fail. No subterfuge can change the political monolithism, ethnic homogeneity, historic bond, affinity and love among the people of this area. We are all connected. That is why even the sizes of our shoes are almost the same not mention our pointed nose of Fulani and dark skin that signifies Kanuri.
The writer was right when he says that majority of APC decision makers are decampees of PDP, I quite agree with him on this but that should not give him the chance to maneuverer and fan the flame that has been roaring across the zone.
This entire issue is about interest in the forthcoming 2023 gubernatorial seat. If you call yourself a man bend and pull your trousers, then fight like other politicians do. Stop hiding behind minor issue and pretend as if you are a savior. Any competent hand that emerges as the flag-bearer am sure Katagum will rally behind him.
I advise the sponsor of this divisive article to stop fanning the embers of hate. As he fights Adamu Adamu, he is by extension fighting Buhari-the man whose name he drops to move up to a ladder of political power and prominence. I hope he will grow up to learn that incendiary commentaries, divisive politics are toxic that consume those that thrive on them.
Nobody calls me “Dan Kauye” since I set my foot in Azare in 2001. i was born in Gamawa could hardly recall the time I see Gamawa my hometown. It is normal to have our minor differences here and there. This guddiri blood runs in our veins, the spirit of guddirism glues us together, irrespective of the political agenda of either the Azare politicians or Katagum politicians. We are all one!
On a final note, I want to make it categorically clear that whoever tries to deepen the scar mark of disunity in Katagum zone, we, as loyal sons of Guguddire are ever ready like scorpion to fight back.
Allah gafarta ma Mukhtar Abba, he told me so much about this day. And that day has come.
