2023 Elections: Fayose Admits Working for Tinubu, Wants Wike Appointed Minister
POLITICS DIGEST- Former Governor of Ekiti State, Peter Ayodele Fayose, has disclosed that he worked against his party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the February 25, 2023 election.
Fayose, who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), revealed that he worked against Atiku “100%” because the “PDP has not been fair to me.”
The PDP stalwart said he worked for the victory of the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, in Ekiti in the last general elections.
“I never worked for PDP during the last election. I cannot work for two people at the same time,” he said on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme.
“The reality is that I worked for Asiwaju (Tinubu). He is a respectable person from the South-West. It is the time of the South.”
“My name is Ayodele Fayose, Peter the Rock aka Oshoko. I worked for Bola Tinubu and the APC in the last election. I am too old to be denying my actions.”
He however said he had no plan to join the ruling party or seek any appointment from the Tinubu administration.

“I will never be a member of the APC. You can serve Nigeria without being in office or holding an appointment. I have been Governor twice. I appreciate Nigerians.
“I don’t want any appointment. I don’t want to be Minister. All of us above 60 that have tasted power should go and rest. The President should appoint well educated and young professionals,” he counseled.
He however made a strong case for former Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, to be made a Minister, saying he thoroughly deserves the appointment.
“Wike can be Minister. He is an asset to Nigeria. He is bold and courageous. Asiwaju needs a man like Wike. If given the opportunity, Wike should be a Minister in this new administration.
“Nigeria needs an average mad man,” he said.
He argued that the 2023 presidential election was free and fair and better than that of 2019.
“Where was the EU when I was hit on the head in an election in Ekiti state? Let them enjoy their report. The election has come and gone. Cases are in court. Let the court decide. But the 2023 presidential election was better than the election of 2019,” he said.
Fayose also declared support for all Tinubu’s policies so far, adding that, “subsidy is a scam.”
