Floods is Devastating, Slowing Economic Activity in Hadeija– Emir tells SGF, Boss Mustapha
The Emir of Hadeija Dr. Adamu Abubakar Maje has appealed to the Federal Government to fastract responses on the challenges of floods ravaging some parts of Jigawa State.
Dr. Adamu Abubakar Maje made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha in Abuja.
The Royal Father lamented the consequences of the recent flooding of some communities in his domain which caused social dislocation among families, disruptions of the school system as well as slowing economic growth due to lose of farm lands and destruction of houses.
“Jigawa State is known for cereal production especially rice and of course the state has been contributing to National development through agriculture, majorly paddy rice. We do not want to relent in that direction. It necessary therefore for the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency and concern, do something, come to our aid” the Royal Father said.

Dr. Adamu Abubakar Maje said the visit to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, is a distress call and also an appeal to the Government for urgent action towards resuscitating the people being affected by the floods.
The SGF, Mr. Boss Mustapha, while responding, regretted the incidences in Jigawa and other parts of the country stressing that the phenomenon is an unforeseen circumstances assuring however that Government at all levels are multiplying efforts to salvage the situation.
Mustapha advised Nigerians to endeavour to conform with laid down laws relating to building houses for safety as against erecting structures on water ways which often causes flooding in residential areas.
The Emir was accompanied by Iyan Hadejia, Alh Abdulkadir Abubakar Maje, Sarkin Auyon Hadejia (District head of Auyo) Alh Baffa Umar Muhammad, Alh Aliyu Sambo Hadejia, The Secretary of National Judicial Council, Alh Gambo Saleh, former Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Defence, Alh Sabiu Zakari, as well as Alh Umar Kaila and Baba sule Abubakar Maje and Alh Nasiru Majidadi.
