Gov. Yahaya Bello’s Convoy Allegedly Attacked by ‘SDP’ Thugs

Governor Yahaya Bello’s convoy was on Saturday reportedly attacked in Kogi state by thugs suspected to that of Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The attack according to the Commissioner of Information in the state, Kingsley Fanwo happened around 12:30pm today near Naval Base, few kilometres away from Lokoja, the state capital.
According to Fanwo, the convoy of the SDP hibernation candidate for the November 11 governorship election in the state, Alhaji Muri Ajaka having slighted that of the governor Yahaya Bello’s blocked the road, and some of his armed thugs started shooting sporadically.
He then confirmed that the governor left the scene unhurt, and that there’s no cause for alarm, as he is in high spirit.
“The Convoy of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alh Yahaya Bello was blocked and attacked by people believed to be supporters of Alh. Muritala Yakubu Ajaka at about 12.30 hours today.

“The attack took place near the Naval Base, few kilometres from Lokoja where the convoy of Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, having sighted that of the Governor, blocked the road and some of his armed thugs started shooting sporadically at the convoy of the Governor. A Tundra branded with the logo of the SDP and with SDP flags also blocked the Governor’s vehicle and occupants of the SDP branded Tundra were armed with Rifles and short guns. The Governor left the scene unscathed and there is no cause for panic as the Governor is in high spirit”, he said.
The Kogi information manager however said that some security aides in the governor’s convoy sustained varying degrees of injuries, and have been rushed to medical facilities for prompt medical attentions.

He then call on the people of Kogi state to remain calm as security agents are on top of the situation,assuring that those behind the attack will be meant to face the wrath of the law.
“We urge the people of Kogi State to remain calm as security agents are in full control to ensure the arrest of the hoodlums behind the attack. The State Government will ensure that law and order are maintained as the attackers will be brought to justice” .
