2023: Group Wants Tinubu, Other APC Aspirants To Step Down For Osinbajo
POLITICS DIGEST– As the race for the 2023 general elections gather momentum, a youth group with the name Osinbajo Youth Support Group (OYSG) has called on the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and other aspirants jostling for presidency under the platform of the APC to step down for the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
The group said the vice president is the most qualified party man to pilot the affairs of the nation when President Muhammadu Buhari completes his tenure in 2023.
A statement signed by the Director General, Osinbajo Youth Support Group, Comrade Ejeye said recent factual statistical data across the 36 states of the federation shows that about 20 million Nigerian youths prefer Osinbajo to all other contenders in the presidential race. The statement advised all aspirants vying for the office of the president under the APC including Tinubu to step down for the vice president because they don’t have the strength of Osinbajo’s support base in the youth constituency.

“Over 20 million youths across the nation are calling on Osinbajo to run for President and numbers mean a lot in politics. Osinbajo’s support base within the youth constituency is more than the 15 million votes polled by President Buhari in 2019 to win the presidential race. V.P Osinbajo is also very popular, influential, trusted and well respected in the South West region. It was based on the vice president’s political prowess and political influence that made the entirety of the South West region vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 and 2019 presidential election,” Jolomi said.
The OYSG DG called on the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to continue his political career as a king maker by allowing and giving his support Osinbajo to mount the mantle of leadership in 2023. He said that the vice president is more influential than Tinubu in the South West region of Nigeria as seen both in the 2015 and 2019 presidential elections adding that Osinbajo’s ties and relationship with the Awolowo family has forever endeared him in the hearts of the Yorubas.
The support group, which describes Osinbajo as intellectually sagacious, humble, honest, accessible, diligent and a man of integrity, said it would soon embark on a nationwide tour to sensitize Nigerian youths on the need for them to acquire their permanent voters card to vote Osinbajo as president in 2023.
