Panic in Ilorin as Gunmen Attack Police Headquarter
POLITICS DIGEST – Unknown gunmen on Friday attacked Ilorin Police Command, Kwara State.
According to the report, the armed gunmen stormed the police station in two loaded tricycles and keep shooting in the air as they approached the division.
According to an eyewitness, although men of the police responded with gunshots but the gunmen made a clean escape after the assualt, which fortunately did not result in any casualty.

Responding to enquiry on the shootings, Ajayi Okasanmi, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO confirmed the shootings but explained that the shooters were suspected cultists with whom the police having clashes with recently.
The police and some suspected cultists had engaged in a fracas earlier that day around the Baboko area of Ilorin after one of its members died in the course of being arrested.
As learnt, the suspect, while resisting arrest had jumped into a nearby river where he drowned.
The police had then called in firemen to have the body retrieved. But suspected cult members had stormed the place attempting to take the body of their members from the firemen only to be repelled by the police.
“This is the Genesis of the crisis that later led to the shooting at the headquaters,” explained Okasanmi.
