POLITICS DIGEST – The hero has made it! Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago is the governor-elect under the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Hon. Bago has made history; the history of snatching the future of Niger State from the jaws of insecurity and retrogression. This is a glorious triumph of the voters. The electorate have ultimately pressed the reset button of good days to come – untamed development. The heroic voters have spoken. Hon. Bago has heard you loud and clear. The dawn of people centred governance has heralded in Niger State. Thank God Almighty! God’s Powers are Really Infinite.
This is a great victory based on the optimism of the overwhelming number of the electorate who agreed that Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago is a man of ideas; a man who is sure to stand with them, a man who will speak to them in the language they will understand. Hon. Bago is like a shoulder that carries the burden/luggage of the stressed, the dispirited and the deprived; an uncommon leader, a doubtless compatriot with blood of patriotism, compassion, equity, justice, fairness etc. running in his veins. Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago’s triumph at the polls portrays him as a genuinely inspiring and transformational leader whose emergence is rare in generations, especially in this epoch where finding good leaders is becoming harder and harder.
Today is a watershed in the political evolution of Niger State. This victory is no honour to disenfranchisement, oppression, intimidation, coercion, brigandage and arbitrariness. This victory is a party time for the unaided, the weak, the hopeless and hapless etc. And it is all honour to the youth, women and everybody for that matter. It is all honour to economic prosperity, confidence restoration, political reawakening and socio-economic, political and cultural regeneration through good-governance, respect for rule of law and adherence to fundamental rights of all indigenes of Niger State.

Hon. Bago’s emergence as governor-elect of Niger State was not a bolt from the blues. It was a widely expected development. It is a unique and important chapter in securing people’s mandate. The people love him and the electorate had decided to choose between the weed and the crop/plant. Even in an animal world, such a choice between the best and the rest manifests every day.
This is a long road to victory. Assuredly, it is a victory that has capitulated want, frustration and backwardness. It is a victory of oligarchical suppression and elite’s conspiracy. It is a victory that will reward hardwork and honesty. This is a victory that will uphold fear of God and the promotion of human capacity development to the limits. This is a victory that will embrace inclusivity.

Great voters of Niger State, you have shown that elections are determined by those who turn up for elections. Michelle Obama, the wife of the former President of the United States of America, Barrack Obama, said: “Bad officials are elected by citizens who do not vote.” You have trounced this supposition by Michelle Obama because you came out and voted for the right man and the man who will keep focus on the goals of our people, the goals of upward trajectory in terms of provision of maximum gains of democracy.
