ICT Sector Generates Over 1trillion Naira in 2 years: Isa Pantami
POLITICS DIGEST- The Minister of communications and Digital economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami has said that the ICT which has the highest grow rate within 2020 and 2021 remitted over 1 trillion Naira to the federation account.
The Minister who revealed this during a book launch titled “ Digital Innovation for Economic Prosperity in Nigeria” in Abuja on Monday said “ the prosperity of the country depends on digital economy today. In 2020, ICT sector has the highest growth rate and also in 2021.
Pantami also said that the remittance of the sector to the federation is unprecedented, “within two years, the sector generates over 1 trillion Naira for the Federal government and thus play a vital role in pulling the economy out of recession”.
The Minister said “in spite of so many challenges, we have established 1,667 project and centers over the states and another 455 project ongoing. We have also developed 16 national policies to drive the digital economy, digital innovations and many more”. He said “In addition to so many achievements in the area of urban penetration, digital skill leading to job creation and many more”.

While commending the author of the book Mr Inyene Ibanga, and also the publisher Image Merchants Promotion Limited, (IMPR), Pantami said the book is a documentation of what the ICT has been doing and it comprises of a vital information that will help both the sector the public at large.
He dedicated the book to the President Muhammad Buhari and recommend it to the people Who seeks knowledge in the benefits of digital innovation and the digital economy.
Meanwhile, the book reviewer and the CEO of Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), Mallam Yishau A Shuaib said the book contained eight chapters with forty topics.
He said the Chapters included “Enhancing Start-Ups, Strenthening Innovative Solutions, Managing Data for Productivity, Protecting Cybersecurity, Accessing E-Learning, Promoting Digital Inclusion, Transforming the Way of DoingThings and Advancing the Digital Economy.”
Also, the DG of NITDA Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, dedicated the book to his father and Dr. Pantami, assuring that their Agency will sustain and nurture the existing media partnerships and engagements for mutual benefits.
The Chairman, Board of Directors of IMPR, Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule, in his welcome remark, appreciated Pantami and the ‘amazing’ works he has been doing since he assumed office as the Communication and Digital Economy Minister.
