I’m not Working for Akeredolu, Says Kekemeke
POLITICS DIGEST- A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Mr Isaac Kekemeke, on Thursday denied reports making the rounds that he was working for Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, ahead of the October elections.
Kekemeke, who is the immediate past Ondo APC state chairman, described the report as not only false but mischievous.
He said, “This is an authorless fiction by people who are shocked by the widespread acceptability of our brand. People who are not used to the kind of grassroots mobilisation we are engaged in resort to this disingenuous demarketing strategy.
“My antecedents tell the lie to the allegation. Without being immodest, I am too big to be anybody’s undercover agent. I am running a vigorous and visible campaign to become governor of Ondo State.”

On his relationship with the Unity Forum of the APC, Kekemeke said he co-founded the group with a former deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, so as to rally all ‘excluded’ party faithful in the state in order to draw the attention of the APC national leadership to the condition of the party in the state.
He added, “At that time, Governor Akeredolu hadn’t done two years and governorship ambitions hadn’t incubated. The Unity Forum was to serve as an anti-Akeredolu pressure group to sensitise our party leaders.
“When it was gradually turning to a clearing and forwarding house, I thought it was time to leave. Without prejudice to the right of an individual or group of individuals to endorse an aspirant/ candidate of their choice, it has always been my firm view that the right of party members must not be hijacked under any guise.”
A former state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice also asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to extend the date for the conduct of the party’s primary in the state by one month to enable politicians to cover lost grounds due to the lockdown occasioned by the outbreak of COVID-19.
