BREAKING: Nine Imo Lawmakers Defect to APC as Deputy Speaker Resigns
POLITICS DIGEST – The Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Mr. Okey Onyekanma, has resigned. His resignation was announced by the Speaker, Chiji Collins, at a plenary today, which is currently in session. The deputy speaker also resigned as the chairman of the House committee on rules and business.

His resignation is coming at a time when nine members of the Action Aaliance (AA), People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The defectors include: Authur Egwim (Ideato North) from AA to APC; Chyna Iwuanyanwu (Nwangele), PDP; Chidiebere Ogbunikpa(Okigwe), PDP; Obinna Okwara(Nkwerre), AA; and Paul Emeziem (Onuimo) also from PDP to APC.
Others are Ekene Nnodimele (Orsu) from APGA to APC, Johnson Duru(Ideato South), AA; Ngozi Obiefule (Isu) AA; and Heclus Okorocha (Ohaji/Egbema) from PDP to APC.

The defection is coming one week after the Supreme court has replaced the state governor with the APC’s Hope Uzodinma following the sack of Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP
